CM12 Released for Galaxy S5 Mini (Android 5.0.2 Lollipop based Update)

Samsung already released the OTA Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its high end devices like Galaxy S5, S4, Note 4, Note 3 and several other handsets. Unfortunately, the Samsung branded mid range smartphones, like the Galaxy S5 Mini, are still waiting for the same Lollipop roll out. Well, if you are tired of waiting for a new OTA, then do consider the new CyanogenMod built. In that matter, you should know that an unofficial port of CM 12 firmware, based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS has been made available for your Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini.

What is with this new CyanogenMod release? Well, as you might know, CM is a custom ROM that’s based on stock Android software. In our case, CM 12 is powered by Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware, which means that you can use this software for updating your Galaxy S5 Mini to latest Android OS, ahead of official OTA roll out.

But, do remember that we are talking about an unofficial port of CM12, so the ROM might come with several bugs and lags – according to the devs (those of xda-developers) and to the users who have already flashed and tested the Lollipop firmware on their own Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, CM 12 is running without any major software related issues, so you can safely use this firmware on a daily basis.

CM 12 for Galaxy S5 Mini will bring stock features along with apps and capabilities that cannot be found on the default Android 5.0.2 Lollipop system. Thus, with this ROM you can easily tweak your Android device.

Anyway, do note that a custom ROM should not be associated with an official OTA Android update. Thus, if you choose to update your Galaxy S5 Mini with CM 12 firmware, you will also lose the warranty of your smartphone. Moreover, the flashing process can be completed only if you previously root your device and install a custom recovery image, like CWM or TWRP recovery, in its system – also other pre requisites must be applied before considering in completing the update procedure.
