Android based dual-screen YotaPhone Release Date and Specs Revealed

A new dual-screen smartphone will hit the markets in November! Haven’t heard about Yota? It’s a Russian mobile company, which announced the odd device almost one year ago, and now it’s making the final preparation for the release. Looking at the YotaPhone, you’ll see just a regular smartphone. But there’s a secret behind it. No, really, it’s behind it. The device holds another 4.3 inch display on the rear, which can be used for consulting the weather, reading or other activities. It is the first smartphone to come with two displays, which made the production and launch a little harder for the company.

According to our source, Yota had a hard time finding support right there in Russia, as the model was new and there are so many bigger companies that continuously launch devices which everybody likes. However, the company managed to get the YotaPhone on the go, and it is said to be releasing 70000 pieces to Euroset (the largest mobile phone retailer in Russia). Unfortunately, other retailers will start with a smaller number, having second thoughts about the selling of the smartphone. And they might be right, considering the price tag which will be around $673 to $765.

Specs wise, the device will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, two 4.3 inch displays with Corning Gorilla Glass, Qualcomm’s 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and 2GB of RAM. The YotaPhone sports a 2,100 mAh battery, a 12MP rear camera and a 2MP front one for video chat. You’ll get 32GB of internal storage. It doesn’t sound so bad, but in my opinion, the price is too high, even for the first device to hold two displays. As I was telling you earlier, the release date was set for this November, but we don’t have an exact date yet. We’ll get back to you when we know it.
