Learn to Tie Google Now to a Gesture on Action Launcher 3

If you’re using Google Now Launcher, then I bet that you have already started looking for an alternative. It isn’t great to hear, but the truth is that Google is pulling the popular Google Now Launcher from the Play Store. Well, the Google Now Launcher is a home screen manager that Google made using the Android launcher code as a base and it become a success in no time.

Even if it first was just for the Nexus 5 handset, then it included all Nexus and Google Play edition phones and eventually led to be made available for every phone that had at least Android 4.1. You just had to go to Google Play and install it like any other launcher, but you know that all things reach to an end. This is no reason of joy , I know it too, but at least you can learn to tie Google Now to a Gesture on Action Launcher 3.

Action Launcher 3 makes it incredibly simple to set up your device with a Google Now pane and here I am to show you more in that regard. You can access the app through a swipe, a tap, or even a pinch.

If you don’t have a rooted device, but are running the pro version of the launcher, you still have the possibility to access Google Now via left swipe, but it won’t be as natural as it will be if you have a rooted device. Here’s what you must do:

Learn to Tie Google Now to a Gesture on Action Launcher 3:

  1. First of all, long-press an empty area of the display and tap Settings;
  2. Scroll down to Shortcuts;
  3. Tap Swipe Horizontal;
  4. Select Leftmost Home Screen;
  5. Tap App;
  6. Then, simply select Google;
  7. Return to your homescreen and make sure you’re on the primary homescreen;
  8. From there, simply swipe from the left and the Google app will load up, showing you your Google Now feed.

I can assure you that this implementation is clean and even the animations make it feel like a natural integration.
However, if you have a rooted device, accessing Google Now via left swipe becomes even more intuitive. Just turn Action Launcher 3 into a system app and you will see how simple things are.
