Know Location of the Caller on Oreo Running OnePlus 5T

Back in December, OnePlus rolled out OxygenOS 4.7.6 OTA for the OnePlus 5T. The update come with assistive lighting for Face Unlock, major clarity improvements for selfies in low light conditions, performance improvements for third-party camera apps, as well as some other small tweaks and fixes, while in January, the company released the Android 8.0 Oreo-based OxygenOS 5.0.2 OTA update.

Shortly after rolling out OxygenOS 5.0.3 OTA update, OnePlus has posted the update on its official website, letting you manually flash your beloved device, so it isn’t a matter of waiting for the update any longer. If you want, you can get a set of new features, like picture-in-picture mode, smarter text selection or better auto-fill, but there are also new additions form OnePlus itself.

When you receive an incoming call, typically Android alerts you with a phone number or the contact name and picture (if stored on your phone). OnePlus decided to expand this functionality, so I have a question for you: don’t you also want to know the location of the caller on your Oreo running OnePlus 5T device?

That’s exactly what you are getting! The next time another unknown number unexpectedly rings your OnePlus phone, the location will be included too on your OnePlus 5T and you will have the chance to protect yourself.

Knowing more about who’s calling is ideal for avoiding spam calls as they sometimes originate from states you are not located in. Besides that, you get the additional information that you need in order to take a decision on whether to answer a call or not. There are some many cases when the callers phish for your personal information, they call about donations and you simply end up accepting fraudulent charges, but this should better stop as soon as possible!

Have you taken updated your OnePlus 5T device yet? What do you think of this possibility to know the location of the caller? Drop us a line with your early impressions in the comments area or write us via the contact form.
