VPU1BNKD Leaked Android 5.0 Lollipop OS for Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5

Various Android 5.o Lollipop OTA updates are currently being prepared for a future release, as during December and January next year, different Android powered devices will finally embrace the latest Android release. Galaxy S5 will also receive the Lollipop touch soon, Samsung stated that the OTA roll out will be ready within weeks.

Well, the Sprint users of the smartphone are even luckier than others, as a leaked Android 5.0 firmware has been already spotted. The platform, with the firmware version of VPU1BNKD, is still in testing stage, though according to our sources, it is already stable and ready for official release.

VPU1BNKD is the official Android 5.0 Lollipop OS that will be rolled out by Sprint for your Samsung Galaxy S5. The official release date hasn’t been mentioned, but since we already have a leaked version of the firmware, most likely the software will be pushed out during the following weeks.

This leaked OS is offered by those of xda-developers and we should thank garwynn senior member for the VPU1BNKD Android 5.0 Lollipop built. The firmware can be anytime downloaded and flashed on your Galaxy S5 through Odin. Also, thanks to Chainfire, after installing the ROM you can also root it by using a new CF-Auto-Root exploit.

SO, what do you say, are you ready to update your Sprint Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 Lollipop OS by suing the leaked VPU1BNKD software, or you rather wait for the official OTA roll out? As mentioned already, the ROM is stable, but it is still in development stage so there might be few bugs and software related issues included on the platform.

If you want to test this OS, then first make a Nandroid backup. In this way you can be sure that you can restore the previous Android firmware on your Sprint Galaxy S5 without further problems. Of course, you can use the leaked OS only until the OTA built is being finally provided, so you can consider VPU1BNKD only as a temporarily Android 5.0 update available for your SGS5.
