RealPlayer Cloud Released Worldwide with Video Share

The Mobile World Congress was a fine opportunity for the RealNetworks to officially launch their innovative RealPlayer Cloud, the service that allows people watch and share video files on the existing operating systems and on a variety of smartphone or tablet devices as well. The RealPlayer Cloud, also called the “Dropbox for videos”, is already registered for more than half a million people from the United Stated and Canada, and the event from Barcelona gave users worldwide the chance to have it on their own devices as well.

RealNetworks first let word about bringing the RealPlayer Cloud into the market in September last year, but it was available so far only in Canada and the United States. But with the today`s announcement, everybody out there can share their videos worldwide.

“We’re excited to bring RealPlayer Cloud to consumers worldwide. In just five short months, we’ve experienced extensive user growth and now have more than 500,000 users in the US and Canada,” explained Rob Glaser, the chief CEO of RealNetworks.

Rob also said that with the clear indications of demand for RealPlayer Cloud in the two countries, a decision of being released out into the air has already been made.

RealPlayer Cloud is compatible with operating systems like iPhone, Android, Windows 8 Modern, Windows, Kindle Fire, Roku, Chromecast and iPad. The chiefs of RealNetworks assure its customers that they no longer need to use a USB cable or a Bluetooth device to share or watch videos. Now, the Cloud simply lets you do that by working across all the devices, be it a TV, a tablet or a phone, all being connected with Chromecast.

As things haven’t been better for the RealPlayer Cloud so far, the service also comes enhanced with some important features like “Refer-a-Friend” feature which can let people earn one free gigabyte of space with every friend that creates a RealPlayer Cloud account. The friend himself will receive a free gigabyte.

Other features refer to fresh new SMS text enhancement that can allow Android and iOS users share videos through the SMS service, which are transformed in the cloud right away, making them available for watching on all devices.

You can get the RealPLayer Cloud in English, French, German and Spanish, with a free storage of 2GB. For additional storage, you will have to pay a monthly $4.99 subscription. But from what I could read myself, I guess it is really worth it. Cheers!
