Android Wear aka Gear Live – Release Date and Specs

We know that you are probably excited and curious to find out more about Google’s developers conference and we are sure that Samsung’s Android Wear smarwatch is one of the announcements that you are thinking off. What do you feel about the possibility of already finding more details about it? ALT1040 has just revealed that the handset will be presented as Gear Live, also giving us the clues that we were looking for about its release date and specs.

Is Samsung’s Android Wear smarwatch just a rebranded Gear 2?

So, this Android Wear aka Gear Live device is expected to be released on July 7th, many of its technical specs indicating those previous rumors that the Korean company Samsung will only rebrand its already Gear 2 and offer us the chance to enjoy the new Android Wear on the very same model.

In these conditions, Samsung’s Android Wear smarwatch will come with a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display, as well as with a 1.2GHz processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Moreover, even the 300 mAh battery remains unchanged, as well as the fact that we’ll receive a heart rate monitor, as well as a IP67 certified body for both water and dust resistance.

Android Wear – a huge change

According to all these, we tend to believe that this new model is indeed just a rebranding of Samsung’s Gear 2, but the important part is replacing the Tizen OS with Android Wear and this means a huge change.

New features are waiting for us, not to mention that we might not even have a camera in this case as it is not yet supported on Google’s wearable operating system.

And we all know that all Gear-branded wearables from this company are powered by Tizen, so some are questioning Samsung’s decision to place this new Android Wear smartwatch one the same category that has its other models, but it is not up to us to decide that.

And if the given name is accurate, you will receive a Gear Live device which seems to perfectly describe its Google Now-centered functionality, but we still don’t know for sure that this is its final name. Let’s just wait for more info to be revealed about this Android Wear device and be sure that we’ll return with all the details that you need to know.

We wouldn’t miss Google I/O for nothing in the world! As you know, it begins at 9:00 AM PDT on June 25 and here we have the official schedule.
