Android 5.0 Lollipop Available for International LG G3 in form of Custom ROM
The Korean model of LG G3 recently received its Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update. Unfortunately we can’t say the same thing when talking about the International version of the smartphone, which will probably embrace the latest Android OS in January next year.
But, if you want to skip the wait, then I have important news for you. Those of xda-developers (and we must thank senior member S3V3N) made available a new custom ROM for the D855 LG G3, the firmware being dubbed as AndroidNow HD. The best is that this ROM is based on stock Android 5.0 Lollipop, so if you choose to download it you will be able to test the latest Lollipop features and apps right on your own smartphone.
AndroidNow HD is also pre rooted and powered by V20C firmware. The software comes pre installed with features such as LG calculator, LG Quick memo + and LG Radio FM along with default Google Apps – you won’t have to manually flash Google Apps since the package is already included in the Android 5.0 system.
Now, if you want to update your LG G3 to Lollipop using AndroidNow HD all you have to do is to download the ROM (you can get it from this page) and flash it through a custom recovery image. Of course, your device must be rooted and you should also backup your data before doing anything else.
The best is that this custom version of Android 5.0 is stable and especially optimized for the international model of LG G3. There are no bugs, lags or other software related problems included on the update, which means that you can safely flash the ROM for a daily use. Anyway, in order to avoid unpleasant situations from happening, do make a Nandroid backup before testing AndroidNow HD – in this way you will be able to restore the old Android OS, if the new Android 5.0 Lollipop will not run properly on your LG G3.
