Android 5.1 Lollipop Embracing Android One Smartphones
There wasn’t an official release or announcement for the Android 5.1 Lollipop, but the update seems to be the real thing for. How we did found about the 5.1, was with the upcoming Android One smartphone which will be released by the end of this month in Indonesia. Android 5.1 Lollipop was spotted by Android Police and afterwards, the information spread over the internet.
Android 5.1 appeared in several places on Indonesian Android One’s website and was included in specs sheets for three new smartphones. Although you might think it’s a typo, it would be strange for the error to appear more than one time all over the website.
However, Android One is still supposed to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the near future, but it might be possible for Google to jump straight to 5.1 OS version. Especially after Android 5.1 appeared on devices like Nexus 6, 7 and 9. According to Android Police, Google has been testing the firmware on the Nexus branded handsets. And Android Police, also has some pictures with an Android One updated to 5.1 Lollipop. So, it sure isn’t a bluff.
Even if Google has not broadcasted the release of Android 5.1, it’s somehow clear on what we can expect from the update. It will definitely fix some of the bugs 5.0 currently is facing, such as sudden apps closure, notifications problems, wireless connection issues, missing silent mode etc. And because Android One’s purpose is to bring the latest software to people from a growing market, it is obvious why Google chose the Indonesian market for the release of the 5.1 update. Let’s just hope it’s going to be soon launched internationally.
