Enable Double Tap to Wake on your Nexus 6P
Various smartphone makers include a special feature in their devices called “double tap to wake” in order to let us wake the phone’s display by simply tapping on the screen two quick times. This feature is very useful on smartphones like the HTC One M8 or the LG G4 that have oddly-placed power buttons, but would you like to enjoy it on your Nexus 6P as well?
Google launched the Nexus 6P along with the Nexus 5X six months ago, but it seems that the handset still manages to surprise us. Its owners are still exploring various features of the phone and the best part of all is that XDA developer flar2 discovered something very interesting about its Nexus 6P device. I am talking about a hidden double tap to wake setting that is disabled by default. However, be sure of the fact that it can be easily activated with a single line of code inside a terminal emulator.
Anyway, you should know from the start the fact that if you want to use a terminal emulator on your 6P phone, then you need to root the handset or else the procedure will not work. If you have previously rooted your Android device with the help of such a guide and played around with custom ROMs, than this procedure should be a piece of cake for you.

- First of all, you’ll need to download a terminal emulator from the Google Play Store; use this link to get there;
- Up next, all you have to do is to input the following line of code and execute it using your favorite terminal emulator app: echo 1 > /sys/devices/soc.0/f9924000.i2c/i2c-2/2-0070/input/input0/wake_gesture.

You have just managed to enable this feature on your Nexus device as well. However, keep in mind that this hidden feature has no chance to survive a reboot. In such conditions, you’ll need to redo this process every time you perform a reboot if you’d love to get it working again.
