Nexus OTA Update to Android 4.4.2 KOT49H
One week. This is the time that Android users with a Nexus smartphone had to wait for a brand new update. Yesterday, Google released the Android 4.4.2 update for all the Nexus devices in order to fix many bugs reported for the last release, Android 4.4.1 update. Instead of an increased performance for Nexus 5 – the update was intended to redefine the camera performance of the Nexus 5 – user complained that the camera experience was worse than in the previous release and taking a photo become an annoying process because of complicated settings. But Google repaired all these bugs.
If the 4.4.1 update succeeded to fix some camera problems of Nexus 5 – for instance wrong autofocus or capture speeds slower than in previous update – the new OTA update tries to offer a better experience and performance for those who love to take pictures with their smartphones. Nexus OTA update will fix the clearing and delivery of VM Indicator, bringing some software handy tweaks. Besides all these, Android 4.2.2 upgrade will fix a security breach regarding Flash SMS ( a message without audio alerts; it’s not placed on device memory ). Some users claimed that when a lot of Flash SMS are delivered to Nexus devices, without being refused, the smartphone is rebooting over and over.
Even if the upgrade is out for just one day, the issues are still present. The main complain is the Voicemail notification that has some bugs on Nexus 5 after the update is applied. However, some guys that have already updated the Nexus 7 ( 2013 ) say that update is good and brought new features like lock screen transparency. Others claim that on Nexus 7 ( 2012 ) the only notable change is the keyboard touch sound tone. Finally another general new feature is the turn off location service that can’t be turned of from Power Control widget, but you can choose to save battery or a high accuracy mode.
Before downloading the update, make sure you have a fully charged battery and working WiFi connection to upgrade without any risk of failure.
