Get Android 9.0 Pie One UI OTA Firmware on your Galaxy Note 8 Snapdragon variant
Samsung has released its first Android Pie beta update in the US officially and it is available for the Galaxy Note 8 handset as we are speaking. If you have a Galaxy Note 8 with a Snapdragon or Exynos chipset, then you can go ahead and sign up for the beta program through Samsung Members. This takes though quite some time and it might not be working on your advantage.
Bottom line, some Note 8 users who have registered in the program have managed to obtain the official OTA ZIP files. The firmware version for Exynos Note 8 is N950FXXU5ZSAB and for Snapdragon variant is N950USQU5DRL7 and today I am here to help you install it on the Snapdragon variant.
To update your Galaxy Note 8 to Android Pie beta, you first need to be on the required Android Oreo firmware. Once you have the required Oreo version running on your Note 8, you can install the Android Pie beta update using the OTA file provided below.
Even if this is an official build created and released by Samsung, remember that it’s nothing more than a beta build. Just to be clear, there might be a few bugs here and there, but for the most part, everything should be smooth and stable.
Also note that there are three Pie beta builds for the Snapdragon variant of the Note 8. I am talking about N950USQU5DRL5, the second version is N950USQU5DRL6 and the third one is N950USQU5DRL7. Before you can install any of the builds, you need to be on N950USQS5CRK1. Make sure you have the required Oreo firmware installed before starting the installation procedure: 8.0 Oreo firmware.
Install Android 9.0 Pie One UI OTA Firmware on your Galaxy Note 8:
- Take the three Pie beta builds:
Pie Beta 1 – CRK1-to-DRL5
Pie Beta 2 – CRK1-to-DRL6
you also need Pie Beta 3 – CRK1-to-DRL7 - It’s time to reboot the device into recovery mode. For that to happen, power off your device, then wait for a few seconds to let the screen turn black and then press and hold the Bixby + Volume Up + Power buttons until you see the blue screen;
- Move the highlight to ‘Install update from SDcard‘ option;
- Now, select the Install update from SDcard option with the help of the Power button;
- Select the OTA update file you transferred to SDcard earlier now;
- Then, just select Yes on the next screen to confirm the installation and wait for the process to finish.
