Android 4.4.2 Available for LG G2 in Korea
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat is finally available for all LG G2 owners in Korea, with a minor delay given the fact that the company has initially announced us that this update will begin rolling out at the end of January 2014. This could have created indeed some inconveniences, but just think about the fact that the Korean owners are actually among the lucky ones as long as the international update schedule for this smartphone is still unclear at this point, not to mention that the update for other popular LG handsets such as the G Pro is expected much later, at the end of June.
KitKat enhancements
We have just announced you about the existence of a new software update for your LG G2 handset which gets you the latest version of the Android OS, which means that you can already think of new features and enhancements when it comes to the Hangouts -SMS/MMS support, the phone dialer or the camera, the new full-screen mode and much more.
Android RunTime
What is more interesting is that in addition to all these KitKat enhancements, the update will also support ART (Android RunTime) which comes as the new version of runtime that can successfully replace Dalvik. Its most important advantage is given by its compiler which can switch from ‘just-in-time’ directly to ‘ahead-of-time’; to be more precise, when you open an app with Dalvik, the bytecode of the app is not compiled until you actually open the app, but using ART, the bytecode is compiled just when you are installing the app.
In such a manner, the app is prepared to run way before opening it for the first time. But if aren’t yet ready to give it a try, then don’t forget that Android 4.4.2 KitKat lets its users to have the freedom to switch between ART and Dalvik and finally choose what they like the most. Anyway, as our source confirms, Android RunTime might be now just an experimental feature, but it is more than probably to become the only runtime for the upcoming versions of Android, so you might give it a try and get used to it! And if you face difficulty with this update, don’t hesitate to ask for our opinion!
