Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is Available around the World
Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S5 at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but only today it has become available around the world. To be more precise, Galaxy S5 can be found in no less than 125 countries worldwide, joining Samsung’s list of new additions that also includes the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit models. As you probably know, the Korean company has started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S5 on 28 March, both from its online and Samsung dedicated stores, for a price of no less than £649 for the 16GB model. Sadly, Samsung is offering only the white, black and blue models, the gold version not being available in Samsung’s offer. But you can choose from many other options:
EE, Three, Virgin Media, Phones 4u, Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone Offers
For example, EE is offering this Samsung Galaxy S5 for £37.99 per month plan with a £59.99 upfront cost, but the carrier has made no promise with this 11 April official release date. We only know that it will deliver the device within 28 days via its website, which might mean that you’re supposed to wait a little longer in this case.
When it comes to Three, we can only tell you that it has listed the 16GB Galaxy S5 version for £69 on four different tariffs, among we can mention the £38 per month one including 600 minutes and 2GB data, as well as for £44 per month if you want unlimited minutes and data. Virgin Media offers instead a £5 discount on tariffs for current Virgin Media customers.
As for Phones 4u, we have no less than £47 per month on 4G, or the possibility to buy Samsung’s Galaxy S handset for £569.95 with no contract included. Carphone Warehouse’s offer is a little more expensive than that at £579.95 for the SIM-free 16 GB version and there is something else that you should be aware of as well: the white and black are available starting today from both websites, but the blue Galaxy S5 will only arrive on 22 April, while the gold model even later, on 20 May.
Vodafone is another carrier that has revealed its Galaxy S5 pricing options; to be more specific, the device is available for free from £37 per month with 1GB of data per month, but only if you accept to trade in a previous Samsung Galaxy device; or you can also choose the other £34 per month option which comes with 250MB of data monthly.
As for the 4G package, it isn’t at all affordable at £47 per month with a one-off £19 payment, but it gives you unlimited calls, texts and even access to either Spotify Premium or Sky Sports Mobile TV, as you choose from the start, not to mention that you get the same deal for £42 per month if you also agree to trade in your old Galaxy smartphone.
Samsung’s Galaxy S5 Specifications
Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1in 1080p HD Super AMOLED screen and gets its power from a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 2GB RAM and not from an octa-core Exynos 6 processor, as previous speculations let us believe. Its 16MP camera comes with a 0.3 second autofocus and the ability to shoot 4K video, not to mention that we have a fingerprint sensor and a hear rate monitor as well.
Samsung’s Galaxy S5 also features the latest version of Google’s mobile software, Android 4.4 KitKat coming with an updated version of its custom user interface which is focused especially on fitness.
