How to Use Notification Organizer on Pixel Phones
Your Pixel phone buzzes constantly with notifications. Shopping promotions, news alerts, and social media updates compete for attention. Important texts get buried under promotional emails. Notification Organizer on Pixel phones solves this chaos by using on-device AI to automatically sort notifications into categories and silence the less urgent ones.
Google rolled out this feature in December 2025 for newer Pixel devices. The AI analyzes notification content and groups similar alerts together.
What is Notification Organizer
Notification Organizer is an AI-powered feature that categorizes incoming notifications on Pixel phones. The system runs entirely on-device, analyzing notification text to determine whether alerts are promotions, news, social updates, or suggested content. Organized notifications move to the “Silent” section of your notification shade.
The feature works on Pixel 9 (excluding Pixel 9a) and Pixel 10 series running Android 16 QPR2. The AI processes notifications locally without sending data to Google’s servers.
Four categories exist: Promotions (shopping deals, marketing emails), News (breaking news, article updates), Social (social media updates), and Suggested (miscellaneous lower priority). You enable or disable categories individually.
How Notification Organizer Works
When enabled, Notification Organizer intercepts incoming notifications and evaluates content in real-time. Organized notifications are bundled together in the Silent section at the bottom of your notification shade. Bundles display a summary showing how many notifications each category contains. Tapping a bundle expands individual notifications.
Google enables Promotions and News categories by default. Social and Suggested categories remain off until you manually enable them.
How to Use Notification Organizer on Pixel
Setting up Notification Organizer on your phone takes less than a minute once you know where to find it.
Enable or Disable Notification Organizer
Open Settings, tap Notifications, and select Notification organizer. The main toggle enables or disables the feature. Tap individual category names to turn specific categories on or off.
The “Always expand bundles” option changes how organized notifications appear. When enabled, bundles automatically expand instead of showing a collapsed summary.
Customize Which Apps Get Organized
Tap “Apps that won’t be organized” in notification organizer settings, and select apps to exclude from organization. Notifications from excluded apps always appear as regular alerts. Add messaging apps, important email accounts, and time-sensitive services to this list.
Access Organized Notifications
Swipe down to open the notification shade. Regular notifications appear first. Scroll to the bottom to find the Silent section. Tap any bundle to expand and view notifications. You can clear entire bundles with the X button.
Adjust Categories Based on Usage
With the new system in place, monitor which notifications get organized over the first few days. If important alerts consistently land in bundles, add those apps to the exclusion list. Experiment with category settings until notification flow matches your needs.
Requirements and Limitations
Notification organizer only works on Pixel 9 (not 9a) and Pixel 10 series with Android 16 QPR2 or newer. Your device language must be English, and you must be in a supported region: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, or Japan.
The AI isn’t perfect. Some promotional emails slip through, while important news alerts occasionally get bundled. Apps with generic notification text won’t organize properly, but battery impact remains minimal since processing uses dedicated AI hardware.
The Bottom Line
Notification Organizer on Pixel transforms notification management from reactive to proactive. The AI handles mundane sorting automatically, letting you focus on notifications that matter. Promotions and news alerts no longer interrupt your workflow with sounds and vibrations while remaining accessible when you want them.
