Motorola Xoom Updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS
When it comes to the Android 4.4 OS, many of you might be wondering what devices will soon become supported and which not. We are not here for giving you any sort of list, but more for encouraging you. If this tablet is ready for getting an update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, there’s hope for so many other devices out there! Let’s take a closer look to this Motorola XOOM tablet released back in 2011. Did you actually believe that there could be any chance to be talking about such an update for this model about 3 years old? We are sure that you have plenty of other smartphones and tablets in mind way before this one (if Motorola Xoom had any chance to be placed in such a “waiting list” from the start), but it seems that someone had thought about it too.
Who cares that we haven’t seen any new tablets from Motorola in the past couple of months or that the company has no plans of offering any newer models in this line? Motorola Xoom will be getting an update to the latest build of Android thanks to some enthusiast members of XDA Forums.
Although it isn’t an official Android 4.4.2 KitKat release, but rather a custom ROM, we don’t even have to tell you that it is neither the right time nor the right place for any complain. We can only say that it comes as a nice addition to its specs, giving you the chance to enjoy a faster and much stable Motorola Xoom. As a reminder, we are talking about a 10.1-inch screen tablet which has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, also getting its power from a 1 GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU paired with 1 GB of RAM. So we have no doubts that it can handle this latest version of Android. And no matter what model you might have, we can assure you that it works with all three major versions of Motorola Xoom: the WiFi-only version, the 3G model, as well as the 4G one.
But don’t forget that this is an Android 4.4.2 KitKat-based OmniRom build, so if you haven’t rooted your Motorola Xoom tablet up to now, you cannot run from this anymore. And you probably know that there are certain risks involved, as our source also confirms, so you have to be one hundred percent sure that you want this update.
Yep! The Xoom got KitKat. This note is living proof of that. I’ve been running CM11(KitKat) on my Xoom for two months now. There are some bugs in it, but they are being fixed rapidly. It was a breath of fresh air to have installed KitKat on it. It’s like a whole new tablet.
