LG G Pad 8.3 and HTC One Google Play Receiving OTA Android 4.4.2 Firmware
Android 4.4.2 was released shortly after Google launched Android 4.4.1 and it is supposed to fix an issue that Nexus devices are having with SMS messages, not to mention that it has to eliminate the hidden privacy feature known as App Ops. This has been a part of all Android builds since 4.3, but it seems that it as was released only by mistake and could end up breaking some apps. Not so long ago we have just received the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition with Android 4.4 installed and now we are already talking about an update to the more recent Android 4.4.2. And it isn’t the only one as long as the HTC One GPe model (also known as HTC One Google Play) is also ready for the same version.
Despite of the fact that this software update is being sent out OTA, you also have the possibility to try pulling out the update manually, if you have no more patience. As you can see in this screenshot showing the HTC’s One Google Play edition “About Screen” we have the device with the most recent Android build already installed.
But if you are the owner of any of these two devices, there is something that you must take in consideration. You shouldn’t actually be expecting at any sort of amazing new features from this Android 4.4.2 update which weighs in at 52MB; you’ll be more than disappointed to find out that it actually brings nothing more than a few small UI improvements and some bug fixes as well.
And it seems that the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition is yet to join the list, as our source also suggests, although there is no word on the exact date when will receive the Android 4.4.2 update.
