HTC One Max gets Android 5.0 Lollipop with CM12 Custom ROM
HTC announced that official OTA Lollipop updates will be provided for HTC One M7 and M8. Other devices such as One Max are still waiting for an Android 5.0 confirmation as there is still unclear if and when Lollipop roll out will be made available. Now, if you are an advanced user then you definitely don’t rely on official updates. Thus, for you, I bring good news: CM12, based on stock Android 5.0 OS, is now available for HTC One Max.
This CM 12 release is therefore powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. But, do note that we are not talking about an official update – CyanogenMod is a custom ROM that is only based on stock Android OS. In fact, this release is a ported version of Nexus Lollipop firmware. The ROM is developed by those of xda-developers so it’s not even an official CyanogenMod launch.
Anyway, the ROM do brings great features and apps that can customize, optimize and power up the performances of your HTC One Max. But, the most important thing is that now you can test and enjoy Android Lollipop on your own One Max without waiting for the OTA roll out.
The present version of CM12 is still in beta stage so the devs are still working for making everything stable and smooth. Don’t worry though as if you want to install the ROM you can already do so – essential features are working so you can flash the system for a daily use without problems. If you want to see what’s working and what is still under development stage, check the devs official webpage from here.
On the other hand, if you are already thinking in installing CM12 on your HTC One Max, then remember that your warranty will get void. Also, remember that for flashing a custom ROM your phone must be rooted and installed with a custom recovery image.
