Galaxy S7 stops getting Sound and Icon Notifications for Text Messages

If you’re at your wit’s end with your phone, I totally get you. Samsung’s Galaxy S7 seems perfect, but just a few weeks with the handset could show you quite the opposite.

For me, things were fine for a while (after I took care of the horrible battery life and repeated Internet errors), but now I just stopped getting sound and icon notifications for text messages.

I am sure that I am not the only one experiencing that and you know how frustrating it can be to miss out everything that is important for you.

However, if there is one thing that I’ve learned is that there is always something to do before taking the device in for repair or asking for a replacement unit, so let’s see what it can be done to get things back to normal in this case once again.

What to do Galaxy S7 stops getting Sound and Icon Notifications for Text Messages:

  1. The first solution that I have in mind is the most obvious one, so try restarting your Galaxy S7 device. Even a simple trick such as this one can do wonders and solve these software issues with no need for trying out other complicated procedures;
  2. However, if the issue with your Galaxy smartphone started after a firmware update, there must be a setting that changed and the restarting tip won’t do any good. For that, you have to enter into Settings > Applications > Application Manager, then scroll to Messages and there, choose the option to unblock notifications. This should normally solve the error, but if it hasn’t, move on to the next one;
  3. If the other two suggestions still haven’t solved your Galaxy S7 sound problems, then it’s time to think of a hard resetting operation. A factory reset will erase all of your phone’s data and restore it to the settings that it came with out of the box. Before thinking that this is too complicated for you, just take a look at the actual guide and you will see what you can also do it. And do not do anything before making sure you have a backup you can rely on as you already know what this procedure will do to your data. After that, you are good to go and the steps from this procedure are right here, waiting to be applied on your handset: How to Hard Reset the Samsung Galaxy S7.
