Learn to Install TWRP on Galaxy S8+ (Snapdragon version)

You already know that Samsung has the habit of releasing different versions of the same phone for different markets and your Galaxy S8+ is no exception.

The main difference between them is that some will have their home grown Exynos Chipset while the other ones will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. If you are rocking an Exynos version of the phone, then you might be well aware that root and TWRP for the Exynos version have been available for quite some time now.

However, things moved much slower for the TWRP available for the Snapdragon Variant of Galaxy S8+, but at least now you have it, so don’t worry about a thing.

How to get ready:

  • Make sure you have the Samsung USB Drivers installed on your PC. If you have Smart Switch for PC already installed on your PC, you don’t need to install anymore drivers;
  • Enable USB Debugging on your phone;
  • Download and extract Odin to your computer;
  • Enable USB Debugging on your phone;
  • The Chinese/HK variant of the Galaxy S8 does not have an OEM Unlock option so you don’t have to worry about that. You must though disable the reactivation lock,so go to Settings > Cloud and Accounts > Accounts, select your Samsung account, then open the menu and remove the account;
  • Next, download and install CROM Service on your smartphone. Once the tool is installed, launch it and it should unlock your Galaxy S8+.

Remember: installing a custom recovery on a device is not covered under warranty and you also run the risk of bricking your device, so make sure you know what you are doing.
