Disable Auto Sign-in on Android
Google Smart Lock for Passwords and Auto Sign-in comes as a dedicated service for Android devices and Chrome users that allows you to store your personal passwords of various apps or websites that you use all the time. Both Smart Lock for Passwords and Auto Sign-in are enabled on every Android device by default, so you must decide from the start if you are OK with that or not.
Some might love the idea as long as they can choose to create strong passwords for all their apps and never worry about having to type them! Simply open an app on your Android device and Google Smart Lock for Passwords and Auto Sign-in will do the job for you!
This could however turn into an issue if you often let others use your device. They could easily log in to your accounts without even asking you for the password, so what about your privacy? Things are complicated enough when we talk about privacy, so don’t make things worst just because you find it convenient to leave things as they are.
Learn to Disable Auto Sign-in on Android:
- Go to the app drawer;
- There, you have to open Settings;
- Scroll down and press on Google;
- Turn off Auto sign-in toggle;
- Under the Services section, you can find the option Smart Lock for Passwords. So, tap on it;
- There are no less than two toggles on the very top – ‘Smart Lock for Passwords’ and ‘Auto sign-in’. That’s what they do:
Smart Lock for Passwords – disabling this will completely block the device from saving any passwords of website or apps at all.
Auto sign-in – disabling this option will make your handset not automatically logging in to apps or websites. However, the passwords will still be saved, if you choose them to. - You are here to disable Auto Sign-in on Android, so don’t hesitate to turn off the corresponding toggle.
Now, if you open a website or an app that you previously have saved the password for, the device will not automatically sign you in. The handset will instead prompt you with the list of saved passwords. In case you want to disable Smart Lock for Passwords on your device completely, then you can also choose to turn off the specific toggle. The choice is all yours!
