Instagram and its New Offensive Comment Filter
Facebook recently announced that Instagram, its popular photo-sharing platform, is ready to offer us a couple of new exciting features. Some talked about the app getting support for video chats, while others have focused all their attention towards to that improved Explore tab that is mostly focused on the things you are interested in. There are also users only interested on the fact that Instagram is finally getting support for Facebook’s AR features with AR features from third parties, but we should all pay a little attention to the fact that Instagram is also getting a new filter to protect us from any bullying comments.
A year ago Instagram announced its intentions of introducing an offensive comment filter, which automatically hides toxic and divisive comments and now it’s finally happening. This new filter that I am telling you about hides comments containing attacks on a person’s appearance or character, as well as threats to a person’s well-being or health.
The new filter will also alert the Instagram team to repeated problems, so they can take action. And besides that, the company is also expanding the app’s policies to guard against bullying young public figures on the popular platform. Protecting its youngest community members is essential to helping them feel comfortable to express who they are and what they really care about.
With these being said, the bullying filter is on for the entire Instagram global community, but users are also able to disable the filter if they’d like to see the unedited comments on their feeds. To be more precise, it can easily be disabled in the Comment Controls center in the app, yet you should think twice before doing that. Could anyone trying to offend you be worthy of any attention at all?
