Learn to Hide the OnePlus 6 Notch
What do you think of your new OnePlus 6? Yes, I know that it does have a notch, but also image stabilization on its dual rear cameras and a powerful processor or a stunning all-glass body, along with the largest display in the OnePlus family so far, so don’t complain.
OnePlus warned us a long time ago that we are getting a phone with a narrow black notch running across the top of its screen, similar to the one from iPhone X and other Android phones like the Essential Phone, Huawei P20 or Asus ZenFone 5 and this shouldn’t be a bad thing.
Display notches are the big flagship trend of 2018, and the OnePlus 6 is simply on-trend too. Not everyone likes the look of the notch, though. That’s why OnePlus gives you a way to easily hide it and forget that it is even there. Do you like this idea better?
Even if the OnePlus 6 screen notch isn’t very big, you can make it even less conspicuous.
Learn to Hide the OnePlus 6 Notch:
- Go to Settings;
- Then, go to Display and scroll down to the Notch section;
- You’ll then simply have to tap on Hide the notch area to activate Compatibility mode, which doesn’t allow fullscreen apps to use the notch area;
- If you choose to hide the notch, this basically means that apps are prevented from making use of the part of the display around the notch, and instead, that area is kept black (with the exception of the usual status bar icons and time). You can only imagine that the notification and status icons remain up there, but the protrusion into your display is less disturbing, so I would say that you have achieved your goal.
If you are interested in further customization, you can also choose from the Applications List that allows you to set notch settings for specific apps individually. By tapping on the app, you’ll have the option to choose between Fullscreen mode (which allows apps to use the notch), as well as Compatibility mode.
