How to Disable the Shelf on the OnePlus 6
It is known that OnePlus has its way to leave Android mostly untouched in OxygenOS, and that is how the Oxygen OS turned into many’s favorite custom interfaces around. It keeps things so simple, while somehow overcoming many of its potential shortcomings with a few handy extras and one such example is that unique aspect of its custom software known as Shelf in the OnePlus Launcher.
Well, OnePlus’ Shelf can be seen in the left part of your OnePlus 6 home screen, presenting the weather, recently used apps, the contacts, as well as a couple of other similar things to users. The Shelf uses an app’s widget and keeps everything organized for you, but you can always choose to remove any of the default items by simply long-pressing and taping on the red X icon when it appears.
You can arrange the widgets any way you like, it may be both simple and very intuituive, and the Shelf is some users’ favorite part of OxygenOS, buy if you prefer not to have the Shelf at all, I totally get you. It is only a matter of choice after all and you are entitled to your own opinion.
When it comes to my choice, I know for sure that I love it and I will always keep it there, but if you disagree with me on that, then here’s how to get rid of it right away. Just folow this procedure on your OnePlus 6 phone:
