Discover the New Google Sounds app
Since launching the original Pixel and Pixel XL, Google has released plenty of exclusive apps to customize the user experience. The most recent addition is a Pixel Sounds app that was just uploaded to the Play Store. The Play Store listing notes nothing more than “Pixel sounds just for you” and the ability to “Choose your favorite sounds for alarms, ringtones, and notifications.”
So, we can see that the app is supposed to deliver updates to the “Sound” menu in the Settings app. At the same time, we are warned that it may not work with every Android handset. However, it will definitely work with the newest Android smartphones on the market.
Upon installing the December security patch on Google devices, this Sounds app will update and appear in the respective tab of My apps & games in the Play Store. For those that will have access to Sounds, it’ll expand the abilities and the depth of the sounds interface in Android in ways you couldn’t even imagine.
You will enjoy Pixel-specific ringtones and all kind of sounds. All users will be able to select sounds with accompanying visuals, too. I am honestly glad to see Google is giving such attention to this bit of their smartphone experience.
So, what do you have to do once this new update is available?
Getting the very best in not difficult
The story is once again simple. Going into the Phone ringtone, Default notification sound, or Default alarm sound menu will immediately reveal a new interface. Your selection is noted in the “Currently set” section, with an accompanying visualization for the background.
Below you can see grid of collections with accompanying visualizations. There are no less than six choices waiting for you now. The first ones are user-created ones, while Pixel Sounds is a default collection is the existing Pixel handsets:
- My Sounds
- Pixel Sounds
- Classical Harmonies
- Minimal Melodies
- Reality Bytes
- Retro Riffs
Let us know in the comments if the new app is live for you too and what you think of it.
