Learn to Unlock Bootloader on your Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Huawei and most of the other OEM companies ship their device out of the box with bootloader locked. But you should normally unlock the bootloader on any Huawei EMUI device, this including your Mate 20 Pro. After all, Huawei is one of the largest smartphone brands in the word, but this didn’t stop it from deciding to take a harsh step by stopping the official bootloader unlock possibilities on any Huawei devices.

This is supposed to “provide better user experience and avoid issues caused by ROM flashing”, but there’s no way to simply take this as it comes! There’s a large developer and modding community out there who doesn’t needs this. The bootloader unlock codes are what allows us to do things like installing TWRP, enjoying root or using custom ROMs, and get root access.

Are you willing to leave all these behind? With no unlock codes, the device becomes completely useless for developers. You can still unlock the bootloader on your Huawei Mate 20 Pro, but this time will cost you. Some sites currently offering Bootloader Unlock Code are FunkyHuawei ($55) and Ministry of Solutions ($35). These are your best ways towards an unlocked bootloader.

Until getting there, enable the Developer Options and remember that you need a laptop or PC. Setup ADB and Fastboot drivers on your PC and also prepare the original USB cable to connect your phone to PC. No less important, take no compromises when it comes to the battery life of your Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

It’s enough that unlocking the bootloader voids the company warranty, so you don’t want to own a nice brick instead of an useful device. And in any case, I should not be held responsible for bricking or damaging of your device.
