BBM for Android to Hit the Android 2.2.3 Gingerbread Soon
Black Berry has made an important step forward when it first brought the Messenger app to Android or to iOS last year, as it had a huge positive impact on the growing BBM community that really wanted some changes to the old-fashioned Android Gingerbread, used to work both on the older as well as on the newer BlackBerry devices. But for these 10 million of fans all over the world, the smartphone manufacturer promised that it would come up with a fresh BlackBerry Messaging app running on a new Android 2.2.3 Gingerbread, making thus possible the BBM`s compatibility with this running version.
As our source states, there is an uncertainty feeling just right around the corner concerning the fact that the Gingerbread version of the BBM might come with only some basic characteristics or it might receive the full range of features. Sources state that the American smartphone manufacturer has faced a great deal of hardness concerning the technical updates made to support the older devices, and it will also run updates in the future for video calling and screen sharing.
BlackBerry is planning to target Android 2.3.3 as more than 21 percent of Android devices still rely on the old Gingerbread. And with the recent activation of Google`s more than 1 billion Android devices, it means that BBM might be potentially targeting more than 200 million users if they would receive Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
BlackBerry has to change their way of thinking, if they want to stay in the big battle, especially with the billions of dollars lost in the past few years. Most of its users are now low-powered and have outdated devices, but the wind of change with the new Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread might be more than welcome for the manufacturer.
