JB 4.1.2 OTA Update Released for AT&T Xperia Ion
AT&T and Sony are preparing something huge for its Xperia Ion users as the Jelly Bean flavor is being prepared for the smartphone. Actually, the update is ready so the OTA is being available for all those who want to embrace the latest Android experience. But, apparently the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 firmware can’t be OTA received and applied on the AT&T Xperia Ion, as the users will have to use Sony’s PC companion for flashing the software on their devices; more about that along with other info are being detailed below.
According to our sources, the JB 4.1.2 OS has been rolled out by Sony and AT&T this morning, so starting from now, the Xperia Ion can receive the latest Android software along with the latest features, apps and capabilities available on the market. Well, not actually the latest, as this is not Jelly Bean 4.2, but considering that until now, the Xperia Ion was running on Android 4.0 ICS, the Jelly Bean bump is quite significant and important.
Unfortunately, as already stated, the JB 4.1.2 OS can’t be OTA (over the air) received as usual, as AT&T and Sony decided to push the firmware only via PC companion tool. So, in order to apply the official update you will have to use a computer on which PC Companion must be installed and running. Then, you will have to connect your handset with the PC (use the USB cable for establishing the connection) and the software will then be flashed.
Jelly Bean 4.1.2 for Sony Xperia Ion comes with Google Now, expandable notifications support for Google’s Keyboard, project butter and a lot more so you have all the reasons for installing the platform. The ROM is dubbed as 6.2.B.0.211 (build version of the OS) and is a major OS improvement, so don’t hesitate and use PC Companion for flashing the new Jelly Bean flavor on your smartphone.
