Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 810 Reference Smartphone and Tablet
Qualcomm announced its new Snapdragon 810 processor back in April. At that time, the company mentioned that they will introduce the chip into commercial hardware until the first half of 2015. This is has changed now, and the manufacturer introduced the Mobile Development Platform smartphone and tablet designs, both of them containing the company’s next-generation chipsets.
The Mobile Development Platform Smartphone is, in fact, an early developer platform for developers. It is the first commercially available Android development platform with high-performance DDR4 memory, which is much thinner, compared to the previous MDP development hardware (9.9mm).
The 64bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor with its Adreno 430 GPU and the Hexagon V56 digital signal processor will give developers the opportunity to build their apps and test their products today, even if this thing will not be cheaper.
The reference smartphone design will cost $799, and the powerful tablet will be available at $999, way above Google’s $649 for the Nexus 6 and $399 for the Nexus 9.
Regarding the Qualcomm reference phone, the device packs in a 6.2-inch QHD display, which is 0.2-inch larger that Nexus 6, but packs the same number of pixels, along with 4GB of RAM for a smooth multitasking. In the same time, the reference phone comes with 32 GB of storage, a 3,020 mAh battery, 4 MP front-facing selfie camera and 13 MP rear camera with OIS.
With the Qualcomm reference tablet, you will get a 10.1-inch display with a 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, 4 GB of RAM memory, 64 GB of internal storage and a powerful 7,560 mAH battery to sustain the tablet.
For those of you who are interested in purchasing one of these two powerful devices, there is a waiting time involved. In fact, consumers will not be able to purchase such devices, at least not until various Android device makers release a flagship with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 processor. Only developers working for approved companies and developing for Qualcomm Snapdragon will be able to experience the power of these two chips for their development work.
