Make Android Oreo Automatically Enable Wi-Fi
You are used to disable Wi-Fi on your Android phone to improve battery life, which is great! But how many times have you forgotten to enable it again, ultimately eating up some of your limited mobile data when you could’ve been on Wi-Fi? With Android Oreo, these can be a part of the past. After all, Oreo brought a long list of improvements to Android and some of you might have missed that the ability to intelligently enable WI-Fi according to location is one of them.
I am sure that you are aware of the fact that Android Oreo includes the ability to automatically turn Wi-Fi back on when you’re near a saved network, so don’t avoid taking care of things. Essentially, Android will keep track of where each network is located, and like that, will permanently use location services to only turn on Wi-Fi when you’re in range.
In other words, when your Android phone connects successfully to a certain Wi-Fi access point, it will note the location. After that, it can automatically enable a connection only when your device reaches a location where you have previously connected, such as your home, the office, your boyfriend’s house and so on.

- For the start, you have to open Settings;
- After that, select Network & Internet;
- Tap on the Wi-Fi Connection. If you’re connected to an access point, then be sure that it will show the name of it. This will bring you to a list of nearby access points;
- After that, scroll down to the bottom of the list as here you have to find and tap Wi-Fi preferences;
- At this point, you have to enable Turn On Wi-Fi Automatically and you are good to go! Now you can disable Wi-Fi as you travel around at the right moment.
