How to Hide your Activity Status on Instagram
To help you keep up with your followers, Instagram recently released a feature that lets your friends know when you’re active on the app. I don’t know what you feel about that, but it kind of creeps me out. All users practically have the chance to see when you were last active on the service in their direct messages. The activity status feature appears in your Direct inbox and next to friends who show up in a list when you send a post from the Instagram feed, per to the blog post on the Instagram website.
The only friends who will see your activity status are those accounts that you follow back or anyone you’ve talked with in Direct, yet this is too much for certain users and something tells me that you might be one of them too. If you’re not into letting all these people know what you’re up to every minute of the day, you can choose to hide it as it is a pretty easy procedure.
You should know from the start that if you choose to hide your activity status, you won’t be able to see other users’ statuses either. So what? I am pretty happy with what I have now, so I am OK with the fact that Instagram wants this to be a two-way street. Do you feel the same? Then, this procedure is waiting for you:
How to Hide your Activity Status on Instagram:
- First of all, you must open the Instagram app on your Android device;
- Next, jump over to your profile by tapping the last icon in the navigation bar;
- Tap the three buttons in the upper right corner;
- Then, tap Activity Status;
- Slide the switch next to Activity Status to the OFF position.
Problem solved. So, up to this point, none of the people you’ve interacted with on Instagram will see your online status. Do you feel any better this way?
