Have HiSearch Disabled on your Mate 20 Pro Smartphone
Huawei devices have their own fair share of bloatware. You may never use those apps and they will always be there to eat up a lot of space on your device. HiSearch is one such bloatware example. This is basically a search assistant integrated directly to the home screen. If you are jumping from stock Android or any other skin, you will find yourself bringing up HiSearch quite often with no intention to do so.
I was also trying to figure out how to disable Hisearch and found the way to do it. Luckily, it’s quite simple to disable HiSearch on your smartphone. All you’re going to do is uninstall the package. I have successfully deleted it too and I am glad that Hisearch is no longer present when I swipe down on a blank space.
Do you want to enjoy having the annoying search gone?
To do so:
- You would need a computer with proper USB drivers installed and preferably the type-C cable that shipped with the phone;
- Up next, on your phone, do enable USB debugging. To do that on your Huawei Mate 20 Pro, go to Settings > About Phone and tap Build Number 7 times to activate Developer Mode. Then, go to Settings > Developer Options > enable USB Debugging;
- Note that I will not be responsible for any bricking of devices while following this guide. That’s your responsibility only!
Detailed Procedure:
- Connect your Huawei Mate 20 Pro to your PC via USB;
- Then, open ADB terminal. To do it, hold Shift + right click inside the folder where you installed ADB. Select Open command window here;
- In the ADB terminal, type: adb devices;
- You may need to accept an ADB pairing dialogue on your Huawei Mate 20 Pro;
- When your device is successfully recognized by ADB, type the following commmands in order:
Adb shell
pm uninstall -k –user 0 com.huawei.search - To keep the changes, you may need to restart your device.
That’s all to it! You should now have HiSearch disabled on your Mate 20 Pro smartphone. And if you ever want to go back to how things were, you would need to factory reset your device.
