CM11 M2 Currently Rolling Out for 65 handsets
It has been more than a month since the last M build of CM11 has rolled out and now it seems that CM team has already started to rollout the snapshot release CM11 M2. In case you didn’t know, these monthly snapshots are nothing more than some sort of intermediary releases between the actual nightlies and release candidates, but we can assure you from the start that they are stable enough for daily usage, though we won’t deny that some bugs could still appear sooner or later. The best part is that the CM team has successfully managed to expand its coverage to more handsets as long as this CM11 M2 release is currently rolling out for 65 devices. And maybe the list will be even more generous than that!
So, if the first monthly snapshots for CM11 were dedicated only to some Nexus smartphones, now things are different and much more users can have this chance. To be more specific, we are talking about various versions of the Motorola Droid RAZR, Google Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 handsets, along with Droid Incredible, HTC One, LG G2, LG G-Pad and many other high-end devices waiting to experience this new CM11 M2 release. If you want to find out the entire list, here we have the download portal that includes all the supported smartphones.
Even more, your already know that this CyanogenMod 11 is based on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS and despite of the brief announcement for this snapshot, we were surprised to discover that it actually comes with several new features such as the secure messaging service WhisperPush or screencasting.
So, if you’d like to give it a try, then don’t forget that you’ll need not only root access, but also a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod or TeamWin Recovery Project. If you have a hard time choosing between these two apps, here we have a comparison regarding the most important aspects such as installing ZIPs, the Graphic User Interface, the Backing Up or Restoring Backups options and more for taking the best decision. And in addition to that, you will also have to install the Google apps package from here.
And we must finally tell you that the builds are still ongoing so, as our source also suggests, if your handset isn’t listed up to now, check the download page later and maybe you’ll be lucky. As we have said, we have a strong feeling that this initial 65 number will suffer some changes and the release will finally roll out for much more devices.
