Sony Xperia Z3 Specs Sheet Revealed
Have you heard that someone has managed to snap a prototype Xperia Z3 with its specs sheet taped on the back? This is our chance to take a closer look at these specs before the official announcement at the IFA expo in Berlin, so don’t hesitate to continue reading. It is true that the list has a few similarities to what we have in the Z2, but there are also some major differences that you should know about.
Major Differences and Similarities
Let’s start by telling you the fact that the screen remains a 5.2″ 1080p Triluminos display, but Sony is now touting its ability to hit 600 nits of peak brightness, something that we have previously heard about from the popular Samsung Galaxy S5 display, which seems to be the best choice from the current market in terms of outdoor visibility. If things are for real, the Z3 should be great for use outdoors, as many potential buyers seem to be asking for these days.
When it comes to the power of this new Sony Xperia Z3, we can already tell you that the handset houses a Snapdragon 801 version, a quad-core MSM8974AC model to be more specific, clocked at 2.5 GHz, coming paired with 3 GB of RAM and no less than 16 GB of storage, plus a microSD slot for expansion.
Are you dreaming of a better camera as well? We are still going to receive the same 20 MP sensor as its predecessor, but this shouldn’t be a problem.
We have all agreed on the fact that Xperia Z2 has one of the most feature-packed camera apps that we have ever seen, being able to record 4K video with ISO up to 3200, as well as stills with ISO up to no less than 12800. In fact, we actually think that Sony has been producing small pixel-pitch mobile sensors for so long that it’s much easier for the company to develop a 20.7-megapixel sensor than an 8-megapixel one of the same size, not to mention that such a camera it sounds better on the spec list.
Even more, the IP55/IP58 dust- and waterproof certification are here present, you don’t have to be worried about that, but Sony’s Xperia Z3 dimensions have drastically changed. The handset is listed with 146.5 x 72.4 x 7.5mm, while its Xperia Z2 predecessor has 146.8 x 73.3 x 8.2 mm, so the old model is taller, wider, as well as thicker than Z3.
Xperia Z3: Reduced Battery Capacity
Our only real problem is given by the fact that Sony has decided to reduce the battery capacity, so the Z3 is equipped with a 3100 mAh model which is a 100 mAh less than the Z2. Yes, we have also seen that the company still lists that this is a “2-day” battery, but we are inclined to believe that this number is a little exaggerated, as it always happen from all companies.
In any case, Xperia Z2 is one of the longest-lasting devices of the moment, so we can only expect the best from its successor as well!
