IFA 2014: Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and E3 Officially Announced

We have talked about Sony Xperia Z3 more than once, so it is great to finally see it officially announced at IFA 2014. And the best part is that the device doesn’t come alone, but along with a sequel to the popular Xperia Z1 Compact – the Xperia Z3 Compact, as well as with an affordable Sony Xperia E3. Are you undecided about which of these smartphones should you be choosing? Let’s take a closer look to all of them and like that we’ll make your job a lot easier.

Sony Xperia Z3

As it has been rumored, Sony Xperia Z3 is equipped with a quad-core 2.5GHz MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chip coupled with 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 graphics. Sadly, we don’t have a 2K screen to enjoy, but a 5.2 inches 1080p one.

Moreover, you should now that Xperia Z3 is Sony’s thinnest Android flagship to date, with a profile that measures in at just 7.3 millimeters and having a weight of no more than 152g, so it is both lighter and thinner than the Xperia Z2. The Omnibalance design has been furthered by the addition of a new high quality metal frame to complement the glass front and the rear panels, but despite this slender build that we have here, the handset packs some amazing specs, as you have noticed.

There’s not the best time for compromises, as we can all see and the last key element that we want to tell you about is an ideal example for that – so, what do you think about that 20.7-megapixel camera that comes with Autofocus, Smile detection, Face detection, ISO control, White balance presets, Burst mode, Digital zoom, Geo tagging, High Dynamic Range mode, Self-timer, Touch to focus, Digital image stabilization, and the ability to take 4K videos? Is this what you really need?

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

The Xperia Z3 Compact is the sequel to the well-known Xperia Z1 Compact flagship. Here we have a 4.6″ screen with a resolution of 720p, while the RAM has been downgraded to 2GB. The 2,600mAh battery is another step down from the 3,100mAh unit on the Xperia Z3, but much bettet than the 2,300mAh unit that Xperia Z1 Compact is equipped with.

And don’t forget that this device was presented as coming in more “youthful” colors than the Xperia Z3, offering green and orange version along with the standard black and white ones.

Sony Xperia E3

Finally, the Xperia E3 was presented as a budget smartphone model coming with a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854×480) IPS display, a decent 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon chipset paired with 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage, as well as a 2330 mAh battery and a 5MP camera.

The new Xperia Z3 series will be released later this month alongside the Xperia E3, but prices are yet to be revealed. We’ll soon return with fresh details, so stay tuned!
