Unfollowing a Friend is so Easy on your Facebook App
Today, my Facebook News Feed on desktop looks pretty good, with no clutter to worry about. And things are much better on Android too, once I have discovered how to manage this section.
If you want the same, be sure that I can help. Do you have friends who constantly post their daily routines on Facebook?
You can unfriend them, but this could lead to hurting their feelings. Instead of unfriending them, simply unfollow them. You’ll never have to know their latest score on God knows what game or how great their last night party was. I like that Facebook is giving us such control of the content that appears in our news feeds, including the ability to stay away from these annoying friends.
Rest assured that you are covered
Just to be clear, “Unfollowing” some of your friends is not the same as “unfriending” them. If you search for that user, you will still be able to view their profile. At the same time, they will be given no indication that you have unfollowed them. Their updates will simply be removed from your news feed.
Steps to follow to achieve your mission
As you can imagine, Facebook has a tool that lets you easily unfollow people and even pages. You actually don’t have to visit a friend’s profile to stop following them on Facebook. You can do it straight from the news feed. All you need to do is tap More at the bottom right hand corner of your mobile app. Open up Settings, go to News Feed Preferences, and select the friends you want to unfollow.
And poof! They’re gone. Pretty cool, don’t you think? This tool also arranges profiles by how many times their posts show up, meaning you can identify the most prolific posters first if you want to. And here you can also find a list of people you’ve unfollowed in time. So, you can easily re-follow them at any time.
I don’t know about you, but I started using Facebook’s unfollow feature a couple of years ago, but never extensively until now. I don’t regret doing so! Things are much better this way.
