Sprint HTC One Gets Updated to Android 4.4 KitKat Firmware

A few days ago we have announced you that the Android 4.4 KitKat update is supposed to be ready to roll out for all major U.S. carrier versions of HTC One, but it’s all depending on them to approve it sooner. So, the list includes AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon, but now we are back with fresh details and we can tell you for sure that Sprint is officially the first carrier that has decided to push out Android 4.4 KitKat OTA update for this HTC One smartphone. It’s no mystery that initial rumors have pointed that One’s 4.4 update will be starting to roll on February 11th, but as sooner as better we can say, so let’s just enjoy what it has to offer.

Android 4.4 KitKat and more

Now, let’s come back to this software update having the 4.06.651.4 build number. As we have already told you, it includes KitKat, but what you don’t know is that it has something more than that.

Sprint HTC One also gets updated to version 5.5 of HTC’s Sense skin which comes with several UI tweaks and small feature adds. Anyway, the carrier didn’t reveal anything more than that, probably because the biggest change is, of course, the new Android 4.4.2 and all the improvements that come with KitKat.

Several enhancements and changes

As you probably know, Android 4.4, KitKat is the most recent release of the Android platform. After installing this software update on your HTC One you will notice several enhancements and changes, including: a new full-screen mode, color emoji support, restyled status and navigation bars, a new photo editing options added to the Gallery app, a stronger security, smarter power use and much more. So, we are generally talking about new capabilities which can let you enjoy your smartphone at its full potential, as never before.

Are you eager to enjoy this new update? Then you can go into the Settings > About Phone > Software update and see if it is there. But if it isn’t, there is no reason to be worried about that; as our source suggests, you just have to try again tomorrow or in a few more days and be sure that it will be waiting for you. So, let us know in the comments if you’ve managed to get the update installed and if you like these changes or not.
