Three New Upcoming Games from Flappy Bird’s Creator
It has been just over a month since Dong Nguyen, Flappy Bird’s creator pulled his successful game from the App Store and Google Play. He wanted to keep a low profile, but finally it’s time for more explanations and plans for the future as well that might actually include not one, but three new upcoming games. Dong Nguyen is a mystery, we must all admit that, but a recent interview with Dong Nguyen by the Rolling Stone is bringing some light into the case.
Flappy Bird’s Mysterious Case
Flappy Bird’s Creator reminded us once again about the unwanted attention and addictive nature of the game. He wanted to create something simple and fun, but the result was quite the opposite. The bird character which flies through the gaps between vertical pipes is addictive, if not even frustrating, but the inspiration comes from reality.
Nguyen talked about how the culture of his home city of Hanoi influenced Flappy Bird’s simple mechanics. The citizens rush through the city, with their eyes on phones, so that basic ‘tap’ control made sense to Nguyen more than anything else. That’s how Flappy Bird as created in the first place!
Surprisingly, he is also considering the possibility of releasing the original Flappy Bird, despite the overwhelming attention. And Dong Nguyen says that he’d build a warning into the next one telling its users to “Please take a break.”
Checkonaut, Kitty Jetpack and Untitled cowboy-themed Shooter Game
Even more, Nguyen reveals that he’s currently working on three new games simultaneously and they should all hit app stores no later than this month. Will they be as difficult as their predecessor? Flappy Bird’s addictive qualities were a big part of why he took the game down, so we are sure that he isn’t thinking about making the same mistake all over again, but this doesn’t means that the games won’t be as difficult, yet so basic as this one too.
These games that we are talking about are: Checkonaut, an action chess game, Kitty Jetpack, a vertical flying game and an untitled cowboy-themed shooter game. More details will be revealed in the near future, so stay tuned.
