Samsung reveals Galaxy S5 LTE-A in Korea
Here we are, four months after the release of Samsung’s popular Galaxy S5 handset, but the story doesn’t stop here. The Korean manufacturer has just revealed a new updated version in South Korea known as Galaxy S5 LTE-A. As you can already guess from its name, the main feature of this new Samsung handset is the LTE Advanced or LTE-A connectivity that we have dreamed off. So, we can say from the start that at 255Mbps, this model is nearly three times faster than standard LTE.
This time, we have to agree with Samsung Electronics that has presented its device as the beginning of a new “LTE-A phone broadband era”, making it clear that the company “will continue to reflect the needs of a variety of consumer products”. So, this is the ideal solution for all those who want even more than what the usual Galaxy S5 has to offer.
Galaxy S5 LTE-A has been substantially upgraded
If the regular Samsung Galaxy S5 sports a FHD Super AMOLED display (1080p) and gets the power from a Snapdragon 801 processor which is paired with 2GB RAM, it’s time to stop thinking that these specs are great. Galaxy S5 LTE-A is here to show us that we can receive even more and by more we mean a Super AMOLED display with an incredible color reproduction, being four times clearer than the conventional HD resolution (2,560 × 1,440 pixels) implementation, as well as a more powerful processor that we have been waiting for a long time.
To be more precise, this time we are talking about a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display that has a maximum resolution of no less than 2560x1440px, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that Samsung claims that this new display covers 90% of the color gamut, managing to have a surprising 100,000:1 contrast ratio.
Moreover, our Galaxy S5 LTE-A houses the new Snapdragon 805 SoC and although it makes its debut on this handset, we have no doubts that it is better than everything we have ever seen so far. We know that it has no less than four Krait 450 CPU cores clocked at 2.5GHz along, as well as an Adreno 420 GPU, not to mention that it packs a generous amount of RAM (3GB), so this won’t be a problem.
Other Specs similar to the Galaxy’s S5 ones
When it comes to its other specs, our device here is similar to the standard Samsung Galaxy S5, being waterproof, dustproof (IP67), as well as equipped with both a 16 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera, with a heart rate sensor and the same 2800mAh battery. And as we have expected, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, with the promise of an update in the near future.
As for its color options, we can tell you for sure that the handset will be available in Copper Gold, Charcoal Black, Shimmering White, Electric Blue, Sweet Pink, not to mention the special Glam Red version that will be available to SKT only.
Pricing and Availability Options
Have you decided that this is the phone that you have been looking for? Good for you; you have made a wise choice. Don’t forget that Samsung’s Galaxy S5 LTE-A will be priced at no less than 940,500 South Korean Won ($919) and will be initially available on SKT, soon followed by both KT and LGU+.
But we must remain honest and tell you that this new device was announced in Korea only , so we have no idea if it will ever come to US as well. In any case, we’ll keep an eye on things and let you know if or when this will happen.
