HTC Desire 610 Scheduled for a July 25 AT&T Release
HTC has just confirmed the existence of a new Desire 610 for AT&T, also revealing that the device is scheduled for a July 25 AT&T release. Despite of the fact that HTC didn’t say how much the device would cost, it seems that AT&T has decided that it’s the perfect time to give us some clues: the carrier has just added a “coming soon” page ready for the Desire 610, mention that the smartphone will cost only $199.99 with no contract required.
We must tell you from the start that HTC Desire 610 is actually much cheaper than we have ever assumed! The device costs around €300 in Europe, so the US price was estimated around $300 (for the unlocked version). Anyway, we are glad that we were wrong! But are you sure that this is the handset that you are looking for? Let us help you with your decision!
HTC’s Desire 610 Design: not one of HTC’s Most Inspired Ideas
When it comes to the design of this HTC Desire 610, we must admit that it is far from HTC’s most inspired ideas. The handset is made out of plastic, having a full 21mm of chassis between the bottom edge of the screen and the bottom edge of the phone, as well as an additional 17mm of chassis between the top edge of the screen and the top of the device.
And those 5mm of screen bezel are making this HTC Desire 610 model a relatively big device, its exact dimensions being of 143.1 x 70.5 x 9.6 mm with a total weight of 145 grams.
HTC Desire 610 is Decent Enough for Its Price
HTC Desire 610 comes with a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and we have to tell you from the start that viewing angles aren’t great, but decent enough for the price that you are paying. Yes, we know that 234ppi is low for these days, but if you want something better, you have to pay much more than that!
Moreover, this HTC smartphone is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz along with 1GB of RAM backing it up, while the 8 megapixel main camera performs much better than we have initially expected. We think that access to manual ISO will appeal to many people, the photos are bright, not to mention that HTC Desire 610 also has a secondary 1.3 megapixel front camera which is now called a selfie camera.
Although there’s just 8GB of built-in storage, the best part is that this number can be expanded via microSD card, so the company offers us a solution to that we won’t have any problems when it comes to storing important data.As for its stereo speakers and BoomSound, sadly it is not as well implemented as in the company’s popular One M8 or the Desire 816 though. While the volume would crank up as high as you might need it, some people have complained about the lack of bass tones.
Desire 610 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with the company’s Sense 6 and don’t forget that this version comes with its usual features such as the news and social aggregator BlinkFeed. And some of you might also like the fact that HTC has included Polaris Office 5 which can be used for creating Microsoft Word, Excel, as well as PowerPoint documents, and even for saving to PDF.
