IFA 2014: Alcatel One Touch Hero 2 coming with Octa-core Processor and 13MP Rear Camera
Alcatel has surprised us at IFA 2014. The company has not unveiled a new top-end phablet, but only the successor of its budget-friendly Alcatel One Touch Hero phablet; we are talking about the 6-inch Alcatel One Touch Hero 2 which comes with specs such as an octa-core processor and a 13MP rear camera for its price tag. To be more precise, this device has a EUR 350 price tag in Europe and is available on shelves there as we are speaking, but Alcatel did not revealed a thing about its availability on other markets just yet.

Let us tell you from the start that at 175 g, this is one of the lightest 6-inch smartphones on the market, its stylish aluminium body comfortably siting in user’s hands or his pocket. In terms of specs, Alcatel One Touch Hero 2 comes with 6-inch IPS display with Dragontail glass, having a maximum resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and a pixel density of 360ppi, while the power is provided by a 2GHz, octa-core MediaTek MT6592 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM.
Speaking of memory, here we also have 16GB of internal storage, but the microSD will save the situation. Just as we were expecting, here we have Android 4.4.2 KitKat running beneath Alcatel’s own custom user interface, not to mention that Alcatel claims that the included 3,100 mAh could keep the One Touch Hero 2 device around no less than 380 hours in a standby state.
When it comes to its 13MP rear camera with optical image stabilization, HDR, and Panorama modes, we are sure that you won’t be disappointed, while the 5MP front-facing camera is great for selfies. And don’t forget that the usual connectivity options are here present as well – 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi Direct, as well as GPS.
