Moscow YotaPhone Release Date Spotted
Do you recall any details regarding a dual-screen handset with no proper branding presented to IFA? It seems that the mystery has vanished and we know that it was all about an Android-based handset offered by the Russian phone’s maker, Yota Devices. We must admit that the concept is interesting (or at least strange as some might call it) taking in consideration the fact that it has an ordinary color LCD display on one side, as well as a black-and-white E Ink display on the other, with no Android buttons. Are you willing to give a chance?
YotaPhone features a 4.3-inch Gorilla Glass display on the front, having a resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, while its 200dpi E Ink rear display has exactly the same size. But we know that this one is just partially touch sensitive, due to a capacitive layer placed exactly on the lower portion of the screen, so we still have plenty of questions regarding its actual functionality.
Yota Devices is also trying to capture our attention by naming this smartphone as an ideal e-reader in the same time, being able to offer us a comfortable reading experience. And it seems that when you flip the handset, the footnotes on the specific page will automatically appear on the LCD, an idea which sounds pretty good. But we still have to wait and see if this YotaPhone can be considered both a smartphone and an e-reader in just one device.
Even more, the company encourages you to forget all about the usual phone cases and change your personal wallpaper on the E Ink screen, according to your own personality. The power is provided by a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and its 13 MP camera with LED flash comes along with a secondary front camera 1MP, but we cannot offer you any specific details on this topic at the moment.
We can tell you though that it will hit Russia next month, according to our source, on Dec. 4, in Moscow, so we’ll be back with fresh details.
