64-Bit Snapdragon 808 and 810 Chipsets Revealed by Qualcomm
Qualcomm announced its next-generation mobile processors that will enter the Snapdragon 800 family, the 810 and the 808 chipsets. These new processors are meant to provide an enhanced performance and delight compared with what we already have available as handset manufacturers. It is worth mentioning the fact that the significant improvement with these two chips is the 64-bit architecture and Cat 6 LTE.
Even if the chips should not be expected to hit the public before 2015, it is always good to know what the Qualcomm is preparing. In what concerns the 6 LTE support, it will depend mostly on the carrier supporting such feature. For that matter, Qualcomm has chosen to use ARM core designs and not its own Krait. In the same time, these two processors are expected to bring support for the 4k displays with the new Adreno 430 CPU.
As far as the Snapdragon is concerned, the company states the fact that they plan to deliver the ultimate connected mobile computing experiences in video, imaging, and graphics. Both the Snapdragon 810 and the Snapdragon 808 enable an exceptional overall user experience with seamless connectivity and industry-leading power efficiency for flagship tablets and handsets.
With the integrated Qualcomm Technologies 4th generation Cat 6 LTE Advanced multimode modem along with the support for the Qualcomm RF 360 Front End solution and the support for the 3 x 20 MHz Carrier Aggregation, both processors will enable speeds up to 300 Mbps in the broadest set of spectrum deployment configurations up to date.
Each one of these two processors are designed in 10 nm technology node with the Cat 6 LTE, advanced multimedia features and the 64-bit capability, which are meant to lower the power consumption that does not sacrifice the performance, but instead, it optimizes the first premium tier 64-bit processors to start using the LTE advanced globally.
In what concerns the Snapdragon 810 processor, as Qualcomm has revealed in the release note, the chipset supports:
- Rich native 4K Ultra HD interface and video, along with an upgraded camera suite using gyro-stabilization and 3D noise reductions for revealing high-quality 4K video at around 30 frames per second and 1080 p video at 120 frames per second.
- The 64-bit quad code ARM Cortex-A57 CPUs and Cortex-A53 CPUs are designed to enable an improved user experience based on the advanced technology feature set. This also improved instruction set efficiency.
- The Adreno 430 is designed to provide up to 30% faster graphics performance and 100$ faster GPGPU compute performance, while reducing the power intake by almost 20%.
- The 810 processor introduces high-speed LPDDR4 memory
- Support for Bluetooth 4.1, USB 3.0, NFC, and the latest Qualcomm IZat location core for highly accurate location services.
Now, as for the second 808 processor, Qualcomm revealed the following features and capabilities:
- Premium performance and integration for the same LTE-Advanced
- RF 360 and WI-FI connectivity as the Snapdragon 810 processor.
- 2k display support
- The 808 processor enables access to high-speed LPDDR3 processor.
- 12-bit dual Image Signal Processors
- Frame Buffer compression and external 4K display support via HDMI 1.4.
The Snapdragon 810 and the 808 processors are anticipated in being offered as samples for the great Smartphone manufacturers in the second half of 2014. On the other hand, they are expected to be available in commercial devices by the first half of 2015. This will definitely represent a technological revolution in what concerns the field of smart devices. Keep in touch for further news regarding the future impressive performance of out devices.
