While Google is already providing the first Lollipop OS improvement – in form of Android 5.0.1 OTA update – for its Nexus branded smartphones and tablets, Samsung finally decided to update its latest flagship, the highly appreciated Samsung Galaxy S5.

And in case you are wondering, yes, I am talking about stock Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware. So, as previously promised, Samsung is rolling out the OTA in December, though only for the European model of the Galaxy S5 for now. The Android 5.0 Lollipop software, dubbed as XXU1BNL2, was released in Poland, but it will work on any Galaxy S5 that has the model number of G900F.

So, even if you aren’t from Poland, you can still update your SGS5 to latest Android OS – the only thing to ensure is that you own the G900F version of the mentioned smartphone. Thus, finally, Android 5.0 lollipop is embracing the Galaxy S5, which is of course a little bit late considering that Motorola and LG already rolled out similar OTAs for their latest smartphones.

Anyway, the notification should be spotted on your phone any time now; do note though that the roll out is being offered in phases and also gradually and in limited markets for the moment. Anyway during the following weeks all the European Galaxy S5 smartphones should receive the OTA Android 5.0 Lollipop XXU1BNL2 Firmware.

You can manually check to see if the software is available for you or not, by using your phone’s internal settings; just navigate towards “menu – settings – about phone – software version – check for updates”. If the Android update is available, enable a WiFi connection and then follow the on screen prompts in order to flash the ROM automatically.

Of course, the XXU1BNL2 firmware is already available online, so if you haven’t received it until now, you can anytime choose to download the Android 5.0 platform for manually installing Lollipop OS on your European Samsung Galaxy S5. In that matter you will have to use Odin and Samsung KIES – if you don’t know how to complete the manual update process, don’t hesitate and contact us (we will provide you with a dedicated step by step guide afterwards).

So, there you have it: Android 5.0 Lollipop OS is finally available for your Samsung Galaxy S5. Do tell use if you have received the ROM, or if you tested it, by using the comments field from below. You can get the update file from SamMobile – just go to this page.
