Enable WiFi Tethering on Verizon LG G4

  1. Download the HotspotProvisionVZWG4.apk’ with the help of this link;
  2. Then, you have to install a root capable file explorer such as Root Browser which can be taken from here;
  3. Copy the APK file to your LG G4;
  4. Go to the APK file on your phone using a root enabled file explorer;
  5. Up next, just cut and copy the APK file in order to move it;
  6. Then, you must go to ‘/System/App/HotspotProvision’;
  7. Change the ‘HotspotProvision.apk’ name to ‘HotspotProvision.bak’;
  8. Navigate to arm64 sub folder;
  9. Now, you have to move the modified ‘HotspotProvisionVZWG4.apk’ file to this location : ‘/system/app/HotspotProvision’;
  10. Long press on the file you just pasted;
  11. Then, choose Properties > Permissions;
  12. Change the permissions to 644 (rw-, r–, r–);
  13. Then, run this command in a Terminal on your LG G4 ‘chmod 644 /system/app/HotspotProvision/HotspotProvisionVZWG4.apk’.lgg4
  14. Reboot your device;
  15. Do not hesitate to go into Settings;
  16. Open Mobile HotSpot under Network settings and enjoy the changes!

    Thanks a lot! It did not work at first, but what I did to work was
    skip step 8
    place HotspotProvisionVZWG4.apk where the original was
    change permissions to 644
    rename to HotspotProvision.apk

    Still getting “A Verizon Wireless LTE card is not detected” since I’m using cricket, but the wireless-hotspot works 😉
