Asus ZenFone Smartphones to Receive Android 5.0 Lollipop Update
Asus has confirmed on its official forum that six of their devices and their variants as well will be receiving the well-awaited update to Android 5.0 Lollipop next year.
The list of devices scheduled to receive the alleged update includes the well-known Asus ZenFone series of Smartphone and namely the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6, along with the Padfone S and Padfone Infinity (second generation).
The official listing entitle the ZenFone 4 (A400CG/ A450CG), ZenFone 5 (A500CG/ A501CG), ZenFone 5 LTE (A500KL), ZenFone 6 (A600CG/ A601CG), and PadFone S (PF500KL) to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update starting with April 2015. The last one of the list, the refreshed Asus Padfone Infinity (A86), will be the last one to receive the incoming update. Asus Padfone users will be able to update to the latest Android version in June 2015.
Asus has begun rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat OS update for the ZenFone 4 A400CG, ZenFone 5 (A501CG) and ZenFone 6 (A601CG) all over the world starting with the beginning of this month.
On the other hand, Google, Motorola, Sony, HTC and LG have already released the list of devices scheduled to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. In the same time, Samsung, one of the biggest Smartphone manufacturers at the moment, has hinted about some high-end smartphones likely to receive an update in the near feature.
Android 5.0 Lollipop Features
Android 5.0 Lollipop version brings a couple of interesting and innovative features such as a cleaner, a flatter design with a more fluid interface and animations. In the same time, users will be able to see a Quick Settings menu, completely revamped which includes new controls such as a flashlight, hotspot, cast screen controls and more.
The lock screen displays new notifications, and users will be able to view and respond to messages directly from the lock screen, without having to unlock their devices. Alternatively, Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with an opt-in kill switch called “Factory Reset Protection.” This feature allows users to wipe out the device’s data on will.
There is also a new Messenger app, a guest user mode with customs options for access. The screen pinning lets users fix in place the screen that is displayed without allowing guests to dig any further. Google has also improved the battery saver feature, which is expected to extend the device’s battery life by up to 90 minutes.
