Exynos 5 Extra Processor for Samsung in Speed
A new processor is expected to come, as Exynos 5 extra is the new surprise form Samsung. There are a lot of features which come along with the new CPU and in the same time improves the users experience with the devices. The Exynos 5 teaser makes us believe that next week we will be able to find more details though it seems that Samsung increased clock speed and about 20 percent more power boost for the new processor . The new Exynos 5 brings a six-core ARM Mali-T628 GPU. Samsung chip offers 8 cores, four are Cortex-A15 and four are Cortex-A7 cores. The A15 or the A7 which will be used is related very much to the power needed.
As our source let us know the differences between the old version and the new one. The original version of the Exynos 5 Octa had a clock speed of 1.6GHz for the A15 cores, while the A7 had a clock speed of 1.2GHz. ghtly less to 1.3GHz. The new processor gets a boost for each version andincreases the former to 1.8GHz, and the latter jumping slightly less to 1.3GHz. And now we can easily see that the new processor is 20 percent more powerful than the old version. Moreover, the processor supports Full Profile Open CL 1.1 and OpenGL ES 3.0, as well as having a 14.9GB/s memory bandwidth when in conjunction with LPDDR3 at 933MHz. Some changes can be seen also in data processing which becomes faster. Recording will be easier too, with a better handling of 1080p video recording and playback.
“ARM welcomes the latest addition to the successful Exynos Octa 5 series, which uses ARM’s Mali GPU solution to dramatically improve graphics performance. ARM big.LITTLE™ and ARM Artisan® Physical IP technologies continue to be at the heart of the Octa series and now complement the new functionality brought by ARM GPU Compute,” said ARM’s Media Processing Division Executive VP and General Manager Pete Hutton.
