Get Instantaneous Details about the World Around You with Pixel 3 XL
The Pixel 3 XL bakes Google Lens right into the Camera app for instantaneous details about the world around you. It is super simple to use and basically lets you tap on something while looking at the camera and it will give you information about what you are looking at. So, phone numbers can be clicked on to dial, products can come up in Google Shopping to buy, you will get fast search results, navigation information, Wikipedia entries and much more depending on what it’s looking at.
Well, you know that Google Lens already integrates with the camera app on Pixel devices, but it quite simply has a shortcut to launch what equates to a different viewfinder. That viewfinder also supports real-time results, but on the Google Pixel 3 XL, things are a little different.
What is different this time though? Well, Google has built in Google Lens directly into the new Pixel 3 camera. Therefore, the Pixel handset that you own along with its Pixel 3 brother are the only ones that currently support real-time results with Google Lens natively within the Google Camera application.
To be more precise, Google Lens will be able to identify objects directly from the Pixel 3’s recent apps menu. All you have to do is to simply swipe up while in any app, long-press on something seen within the card, and then tap on the option for Lens. This process will launch and switch over to the full Google Lens experience, being so much faster than it currently is on other Android devices.
It’s true that many Android OEMs have been playing around with similar AI-tricks within the camera’s viewfinder in the past few years, but Google Lens being natively integrated it into the Camera application improves the process of accessing results from Lens.
