MWC 2014: Samsung Galaxy S5 Officially Launched
Well guys, the await is over, as the long-expected Samsung Galaxy S5 was officially launched last night at the 2014 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The famous high-end smartphone from the Korean handset manufacturer wasn’t unveiled in big style as the company wanted to keep things simple. More than that, the device was welcomed with those kind of features that the consumers wanted for their own, as advanced camera, advanced features for protection and a strong connectivity.
But let`s first talk about the Galaxy S5`s design. It was rumored that the upcoming S5 will come with a foldable design or different kind of shapes. Nothing true. The design bares the same styling as its sibling S4, and you will find it rather difficult to distinguish the two flagships from the front.
It is the back however that makes the S5 stand apart, with its perforated pattern on the back cover, coming with a stylish glamorous look. As for the colors involved, the S5 brings fresh new shimmery White, charcoal Black, electric Blue and copper Gold, to cover all the fine tastes of its consumers.
But the real wonder that Samsung has made, is inside the S5, where the almighty 5.1-inch Full HD with 1920×1080 Super AMOLED display enhances the 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 Soc processor and Adreno 330 CPU, all set at 578 MHz and 2GB of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 features a lot of important dedicated fitness tools like Accelerometer, Geomagnetic, RGB Ambient light, Proximity, Gyro, Barometer, Temperature & Humidity, Heart Rate Sensor and also the long expected Fingerprint Scanner feature.
As for the running system, the wonderful cool S5 is set up on Android 4.4 KitKat and the fresh new TouchWiz UX, with a flat and blue interface, just like its flagships TabPRO and NotePRO. Along with the new implemented UX Magazine which you can activate by simply swiping left from home screen, the “old” features found on the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 are also present on the Galaxy S5.
Ok, now let`s talk about one of the smartphone`s main attraction, and that would be its amazing 16 megapixel camera. We are talking about a high-tech mode in terms of hardware, as the 16 MP sensor can shoot 4K (UHD) video at a rate of 30FPS and 1080p (FHD) video at 60FPS.
On the other hand, Samsung has also equipped the camera with new shooting modes like Select Focus Mode, Virtual Tour Shoot, HDR (Rich Tone) and much, much more. In case you want to have a video conference, you can also rely on its 2.1 megapixel front camera that can shoots at the same 1080p (FHD) video at 30 FPS.
All that technology and necessary features that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is bringing is stored on a 16 and 32GB, with the possibility of extending the internal storage via a MicroSD slot card. As for the device`s battery, we are talking about a massive 2800mAh battery that can handle heavy usage, like tones of hours of web-browsing, video and music share, game playing and so on.
Another important feature that the S5 is bringing fresh, is the device`s connectivity, the high-end smartphone sporting a fifth generation Wi-Fi 802.11ac and 2X2 MIMO, with the highest LTE 4 frequency, making the device the premium high-end with the fastest connectivity.
There is still a lot to talk about the great things that S5 is featuring, but at the end I would like to stick to another innovative thing that the device is bringing, which is the fingerprint sensor incorporated into the home button.
The enhancement is so simple, that even a 5-year old child would use it, as you can unlock it with your fingerprint, and perform different tasks like signing into different accounts, paying for the stuff you want via PayPal, encrypting personal file using the Private Mode and so on. More to it, the S5 is water and dustproof due to a flap cover on the USB port that prevents water from entering the device.
Well folks, what do you think? Is it what you have expected from the Samsung Galaxy S5 or just a disappointment for you? Do you like the fresh new S5 or it is just another high-end we are used to receiving from Samsung? Don’t forget to write! Cheers!
