OPPO camera-centric N-Lens Android smartphone Incoming
Rumors of an upcoming N-Lens camera-centric Android based smartphone have been confirmed by OPPO. The company is said to be releasing more camera-centric handsets, in order to challenge the Galaxy Camera or the Galaxy S4 Zoom. No info on the specs or the release date has been provided, so we’ll have to stay on the lookout for additional details. The focus will clearly be photography, but we’re also expecting the device to be able to make phone calls and run some version of Android. The camera phone might be high resolution and use a night owl processor, this probably meaning low-light enhancement.
According to our source, OPPO stated that the N-Lens series will be the “most important flagship series for Oppo going forward”. The company also noted their camera would have an innovative body design, and an interface meant to support creativity, which might mean it will come with image editing apps. The device is rumored to support a remote shutter with fast speed, and a flash. The company is making the thinnest smartphones on Earth at the time, so we are very excited and curious on how the N-Lens will look like and what it shall pack in the small package.
Since we don’t know the features of the N-Lens device, let’s take a look at the two Samsung gadgets it’s hoping to compete against.
First we have the Galaxy Camera, with optically stabilized 21x zoom lens and almost half-inch 16-megapixel sensor, running Android Jelly Bean, then the Galaxy S4 Zoom, also with massive 21x lens and 4.3-inch touchscreen with 960 x 540 resolution, a 16MP rear camera and also a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.
So we guess the N-Lens smartphone will have to be pretty awesome to compete with these two devices. We’ll keep an eye out for extra information.
